Poised gave you live feedback on filler words, pace and hedging while you were on a call, without a bot in the meeting. It closed on October 8, 2026. No single app replaces all of that, so this guide sorts the alternatives by the job you used Poised for.
The short list
Oraton if you want to get better at speaking, especially for high-stakes talks, and can practise on your iPhone, and android. ChadFlow if you used Poised during live calls and want help in the moment, with no bot joining, on Mac or Windows. Yoodli, Orai or Speeko for more practice with AI feedback. Read AI for a coaching report after each meeting, if a notetaker is fine. Granola for bot-free meeting notes without coaching.
Disclosure: we make Oraton, so it is on this list, and first. Where another tool does a job better, we say so. We haven’t been paid by any other tool listed here.
What happened to Poised
Poised’s homepage said it was shutting down on October 8, 2026, and the in-app notice said October 9. Deepgram, which bought Poised in June 2024, pointed users to Saga, its dictation app for Mac.
Your data: Poised said recordings, feedback and progress history would be deleted at shutdown. The export window has closed. If you didn’t export, contact support@poised.com, though you shouldn’t count on getting anything back.
Billing: Poised said no further payments would be taken and annual subscribers would get a prorated refund automatically. If you don’t see yours, ask support.
Saga: It uses your Poised login. Dictation is live, a meeting recorder is on the way, and it’s free during early access.
What Poised did, and what replaces each part
What Poised did | What to use instead |
|---|---|
Live nudges during a call: filler words, pace, hedging | Nothing we found copies the in-call overlay. ChadFlow helps live during calls; Oraton, Orai and Speeko coach while you practise. |
Meeting summaries and notes with no bot in the call | ChadFlow, Granola |
Tracking how your speaking improves | Oraton (the best), Yoodli, Orai, Speeko; Read AI’s per-meeting reports |
Shortcut, the Mac dictation tool | Saga, ChadFlow |
The 8 alternatives
1. Oraton: the best fit if you want to improve how you speak
Oraton is our AI communication coach, built for experienced and newly-entered leaders, giving them a private space to rehearse high-stakes conversations and get precise feedback. That makes it the closest match to what Poised was for: improving your delivery, not just transcribing it. You practise a board update, an investor conversation or an all-hands. After each response it coaches you on clarity, structure, confidence, pacing, cadence, filler words and persuasive impact. That covers the filler-word and pace feedback Poised users valued most, plus structure and impact, which Poised never scored.
What it doesn’t do: Oraton doesn’t run during live calls, join meetings or transcribe them. It’s for rehearsal.
Platforms: iPhone and iPad & Android. Price: free to download with in-app purchases.
2. ChadFlow: live help during calls, with no bot
ChadFlow runs on your own computer and hears the call through your microphone and system audio, so nothing joins the meeting. It transcribes both sides live, labels speakers, and can suggest what to say next in an overlay that stays out of screen shares. After an interview it writes a debrief with a score, a breakdown of talk time and filler words, and rewrites of answers that ran long. Meetings get a summary and notes, like Poised’s, without a bot in the room.
What it doesn’t do: ChadFlow doesn’t flash a filler-word warning while you talk. Its coaching comes after the call, and it’s built for interviews and meetings rather than presentations.
Platforms: macOS 13+, Windows 10 and 11, iPhone (iOS 26+). Price: $9.99 a week, $29.99 a month, or $499 a year.
3. Saga by Deepgram: Poised’s own successor, for dictation
Saga is a dictation app for Mac from Deepgram, the company that owned Poised. You sign in with your Poised account. Right now it’s a dictation tool with a meeting recorder on the way. Deepgram hasn’t said whether Poised-style speaking feedback will follow. If Shortcut was the part of Poised you used most, start here.
Platforms: Mac. Price: free during early access.
4. Yoodli: AI roleplay practice with feedback
Yoodli is built for rehearsal. You practise pitches, interviews or difficult conversations with an AI roleplay partner and get feedback afterwards. It can also analyse real video calls, but it joins as a participant and reports afterwards, so it isn’t the invisible live coach Poised was. It runs on the web, so it’s an option if you’re not on iPhone.
Platforms: web. Price: Starter is free with 5 sessions in total; Pro is $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month, both billed annually.
5. Orai: a speaking coach on your phone
Orai analyses your delivery live while you practise a talk or an answer into your phone or browser. It doesn’t run during meetings, so it suits fixing habits between calls. It covers Android and web as well as iOS.
Platforms: iOS, Android, web. Price: 7-day free trial, then $12 a month or $49.99 a year.
6. Speeko: structured speech training
Speeko is a speech-coaching course with exercises and feedback on your voice and speech patterns. Real-time guidance is part of the paid plan. Like Orai, it’s for building habits between calls.
Platforms: iOS, macOS, Android, web. Price: 7-day free trial, then $29.99 a month, $8.33 a month billed annually, or $299.99 for lifetime access.
7. Read AI: a coaching report after every meeting
Read AI’s meeting reports can include a coaching section with talking speed, filler words, bias and charisma. It usually joins meetings as a notetaker, though its Windows and Mac apps can also record from your computer. The feedback arrives after the meeting, not during it.
Platforms: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android. Price: free for 5 meetings a month; Pro is $15 per user a month billed annually, or $19.75 monthly.
8. Granola: bot-free meeting notes, no coaching
If the part of Poised you liked was the bot-free meeting summary, Granola does that job well. It captures your device’s audio and writes notes you can edit afterwards. It gives no feedback on how you spoke.
Platforms: macOS, Windows, iOS, Android. Price: Basic is free; Business is $14 per user a month.
Also worth knowing
PowerPoint Speaker Coach gives free feedback on pacing, pitch and filler words, but only while you rehearse a slide presentation.
Speaker Coach in Microsoft Teams is gone. Microsoft retired it in late August 2025.
Otter.ai and Fireflies transcribe meetings with a bot by default (Fireflies also has a Chrome extension that records without one). Neither coaches your delivery.

How to choose
Want to get better at speaking, not just get call help? Start with Oraton, especially for leadership and high-stakes talks. If you’re not on iPhone, Orai and Yoodli are the practice options that run elsewhere.
Need help while you’re talking? Oraton isn’t the answer. The choice is narrow: ChadFlow during calls, Orai or Speeko while you practise.
Is a bot joining the call a dealbreaker? Skip Yoodli’s call analysis, Otter and Read AI’s notetaker, and look at ChadFlow, Granola or Saga.
Want to see yourself improve over weeks? A practice app (Oraton, Yoodli, Orai or Speeko) tracks progress better than a meeting tool.
Was Poised mostly a dictation tool for you? Try Saga while it’s free.
Poised shutdown FAQ
When did Poised shut down? The homepage said October 8, 2026, and the in-app notice said October 9.
Will I get a refund? Poised said annual subscribers would receive a prorated refund for the remaining months automatically.
Can I still export my data? The export window closed with the shutdown, and Poised said recordings, feedback and progress history would be deleted. Contact support@poised.com if you need something.
Is there a free Poised alternative? Saga is free during early access but covers dictation only. PowerPoint Speaker Coach is free for rehearsing presentations. Yoodli’s Starter plan includes five free practice sessions, Granola’s Basic plan is free, and Oraton is free to download.
Does anything give live filler-word feedback during calls like Poised did? Not among the tools we checked. Oraton, Orai and Speeko give feedback while you practise, not during calls. ChadFlow reports filler words and talk time after an interview, and Read AI adds them to its meeting reports.
